BEHIND THE LENS
Richard enjoys traveling and taking captivating photographs. His current passion is his photo series Places in Song, which chronicles a visual history of rock and roll locations mentioned in lyrics, and has taken him throughout the U.S. and parts of Mexico and Europe.
His journey to the visual arts began early when, as a young boy, he was given painting lessons which ignited his inner creativity. He later served in the US Navy as his ship’s photographer, which sparked his interest in capturing images and he knew that his future in art was holding a camera not a paint brush.
After attending the School of Visual Arts in NYC, he went on to work in commercial photography and opened and operated his own studio in Manhattan for 22 years. Currently he is the Director of Photography for a leading national designer and manufacturer of party goods, costumes and balloons.
Over the years, Richard's images have appeared in various photography shows. Currently, his work is being shown in a national juried exhibit, the 69th AONE Exhibit held at Silvermine Galleries in New Canaan, CT
